I thought I read somewhere that there was a bit of controversy for the nominators not having enough time to review ALL the emmy submissions, so someone said
they were just going to vote for their friends....... Did I make that up in my head? Or did I really read that somewhere?

I just called the Emmy Exec offices and they told me they would have a list of numbers on their site that we can call to inform them of their BS nominations.

Instead of watching the Emmy's this year, I'm going to _____________________________________________________.Stare at Steve's ass on my DVDs and make lots and lots of animations. Oh. And hop around. I'll do lots of hopping around.
Jason: I need you to know how..... the gun feels so you can be prepared, okay?
Warning: Animations will make you want to jump the nearest blonde-haired, blue-eyed guy around just for having the
audacity
Thank you, Brooke! My graphics savior!

Whew. I didn't even think about that. Clearly I am without caffeine. Toodles, K

Okay. Instead of watching the Emmy's this year, I'm going to make martinis. Lots and lots of martinis. And drunkenly await all of Maggie's animations.

Steve and Becky are pretty good actors who can really bring it home at times. But my question is, how can GH be nominated for Best Drama when they didn't
get a nom for best writing and no one on the show got nominated except for TG (who probably just got a legacy nom)?

Numbers mean nothing, my friends. Nothing. Believe me, I'm wise beyond my years. And that alone deserves a drink...or two. And instead of watching the Emmy's this year, after my martinis and endless animation watching, maybe I'll attempt to organize my room. Though I'm not promising anything. -Ryan-

Rygirl -- I have called, emailed Frons, Emailed Carolyn Hinsey and now I'm going to email the rest of the magazines AND I'm writing
the people who didn't get nominated on GH. My disgust over this is just very very high. Grrrrrrr!
Brooke -- Good idea! Games are good. LOL. Instead of watching the Emmy Awards this year, I'm going to... read a flipping book. JT |

masonshaw wrote: Great point, masonshaw. The more you think about it, the crazier it seems. I wonder what the actual odds would've been for GH to get only ONE acting nomination out of all the listed categories? It looks suspicious, and it had better be highlighting problems with the voting procedures to the Emmy people. |

You know...this is really upsetting, and unfortunate, but maybe this will give ABC/GH TPTB/writers a wake up call.
There are 2 things missing from our beloved GH that the other soaps nominated still have...... they have not turned their backs on the history of the show, ours are being killed off. And there is more romance on those shows than we have on GH. We have an overabundance of angst. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my GH, and I LOVE the mob storylines....but you can have romance AND Mob Storylines. You can also have drama without the mob, and still have a great story. Metro Court crisis for example, got rave reviews in the magazines. There was action, there was violence, and they had room for romance (Jason & Elizabeth in the elevator). It was loosely tied to the mob, and we still got Sonny & Jason - with Maurice and Steve putting in great performances there and through the aftermath. The B & W ball - what was the only 2 things the magazines raved about - Becky, Steve and Tyler's awesome job during the Emily's Death scenes. "heart" related scenes. And the fact that there was romance in the midst of all that was going on (Jason & Elizabeth's kiss in the stables). "Love in the Afternoon" that was the slogan for years - because Soap Operas took people away from the "real" world into a fantasy world....of course you have to put in strong issues that occur in life - for example - Stone & Robin's AIDS storyline - we remember GH being brave enough to tackle this issue...but we also strongly remember the romance of that pair. I think it is showing in the ratings that the fans are getting tired of too much violence not enough romance on GH. Maybe Guza is heading in the direction of balancing out the show, but maybe he needs loving, sweet reminders that we can't afford to drag this out anymore. While I'm still on my Soapbox, let me add that the same goes for Liason. I love the angst, I do, but it can get tiresome, when you're dragging it out so long. You have to balance that out as well. We haven't even had Becky on since when? They've got to start listening to the fans... Brooke - you're right - we need to bring back the other award shows - where the fans had their say! For sure, Steve would have taken it, or at least been nominated. Okay, I'm off my Soapbox - drowning my woes in a LARGE glass of MonaVie.... thanks for listening...uh...reading ETA: 1 more thing...no offense to Tony Geary, because I love him, loved him during his "hey day" with Luke & Laura - which, coincidentally, was a LOVE story with drama. What did he do last year to warrant the nomination? He was barely on wasn't he? |
