Sooooooo let me get this straight (no pun intended)...
She thinks its great that we live in a country where you can chose between a same sex marriage or an "opposite" marriage (whatever the heck that is)... But in "her" country marriage should just be between a man & a woman... Ignorance must be so freakin' bliss. Sooooooooooo freakin' bliss. *Colleen*

Wow, I have no words and the fact that she's from my state makes even worst. Over 30 million people to choose from. Can't wait to go to my firend's
opposite marriage next month.
Congrats to Miss North Carolina! |

So all of you support Perez Hilton's degradation of a woman regardless of her opinion?

I thought Miss California showed a lot of class unlike that Perez Hilton jerk.

So all of you support Perez Hilton's degradation of a woman regardless of her opinion?Excuse me? Who said anything about supporting Perez? This thread has nothing to do with him, other than he was the one that posed the question. There was nothing wrong with his question. There was, however, something very wrong with Miss California's answer. Not that she even answered the question, but .... Funny. I thought all she showed was her ass. "... So WTF is she texting?!"

I thought Miss California showed a lot of class unlike that Perez Hilton jerk. As Brooke stated above, I am not sure how we made any indication of support for Perez Hilton. Personally, I think he is a big mouth nobody. I think he degrades people every day and therefore I have never visited his site. I do how ever support a persons right to live there life with love. The same right that any of us can choose for our lives. As for Miss California I think probably the worse part of her answer is she tried to hide her opinion initially and then stupidly contradicted herself. It is a good thing Our country gives us the right to have an opinion and point out the fact that some people are ignorant. I guess people in Her country just do not grasp the concept of how moronic ignorance makess them look. I would have respected her a lot more if she just answered the question with her actual opinion like.... "In my opinion the constitution of marriage should be between a man and a woman.....this is what I was raised to believe." I would have disagreed, but she has a right to that opinion. Just as I have a right to mine. Shirl

....well I'm lost. I don't even know who Perez Hilton is other than the fact it was his question asked. And technically? The chick didn't even
answer the question asked of her. The question was should other states follow... not "how do you feel about same sex marriage." All this hoopla
over her choosing to answer a question she wasn't even asked.

Well. She can think any way she'd like. But her brain took an idiot vacation with such a simple question. On a grand stage you need to be able to articulate your feelings and opinions, no matter the query. I'm sure it was not the question she expected but as an Ambassador for her state she should pull herself together and answer the question in a manner that is truthful. Instead, she became overwhelmed and took the question in a direction that was not even asked of her. Not only did it point out that she couldn't effectively state her opinion it also pointed out she couldn't follow directions. It's like being asked, "Should President Obama continue to push his financial bailout plan" ... and instead of answering the question go on and on about him being the first black President, when that was not the question at all. On a small level I feel bad for her, because she has yet to learn that differences of opinion, no matter how unfashionable or in the minority they appear to be are still valuable and make democracies and society a rich place. She can believe what she wants but she has to claim ownership on why she believes that. Once she does that she'll have no problem articulating her opinion. Even if it is unpopular. I don't think she should vilified, singularly, for her opinion, but her response in defense of her opinion is what got away from her. And that's too bad. Wow. That was entirely too long .... but, I just saw this, so .... Thanks, B. Toodles, K ![]() |

I brought Perez Hilton into this thread b/c the mutual name calling go hand-in-hand.
You want me to condemn Miss California? To punish her for interpreting PH's question the way she did and answered according to what she believes in? Sorry I can't do that. Anyone and Everyone are entitled to their opinion no matter what that may be. BTW the show was a beauty pageant so all the contestants were showing off their collective butts. I brought Perez Hilton into this thread b/c the mutual name calling go hand-in-hand.No, actually, they don't. You wanna bash Perez? Go for it. Start a new thread. He has nothing to do with the clip I posted beyond his asking of the question. I don't like the guy, but this topic isn't about him. I'm confused as to where the confusion is coming from. Everybody else seemed to understand very easily what the point of this discussion was. You want me to condemn Miss California? To punish her for interpreting PH's question the way she did and answered according to what she believes in? Sorry I can't do that. Anyone and Everyone are entitled to their opinion no matter what that may be. Her beliefs aren't what sealed my judgement of her. Granted, they didn't help her at all because I hate homophobes as much as I hate racists, but that's neither here nor there. The fact that she (non)answered a question is the reason I think she's a complete moron. Her "answer" did not address the question. Simple as that. And she knew she was in the wrong, too, because she felt the need to throw a "No offense" comment in there. When you feel like you have to say "No offense," you know you're going to offend somebody and you just don't care. Way to spread the love, Miss California! Now granted, subsequent comments made on her part have made me dislike her even more but that's another topic entirely. I'm so glad she didn't win the title. Miss USA should be somebody who can unite, not divide. Miss California certainly wasn't concerned about that, was she? It's really no wonder she was the first contestant in the 80+ year history of the pageant to get booed when she attempted to answer her question. BTW the show was a beauty pageant so all the contestants were showing off their collective butts. No, some of them managed to give thoughtful, respectful answers. It sure was refreshing, after having watched Miss California essentially choke on her own foot. "... So WTF is she texting?!"

As persecuted as I may be become....I fully support the answer given to the question he asked. As a Christian, I know God respected her answer too. I don't
hate any living being whether they choose a certain lifestyle or not. I love them all enough to pray for them.

Sure we all name call or what ever because we are human. I do disagree with Miss California's opinion, but I do judge her for it. I posted in here because
I felt like she came across sounding quite moronic in the way she answered the question not about because I disagree with her opinion on gay marriage.
I am pretty sure we were never in here debating who felt gay marriage or someone being gay is right or wrong. As a Christian I am pretty sure I was not put on this earth to judge anyone even if I disguise it by praying. Shirl

Ok. Here's where I get my panties in a twist.
From my understanding, after seeing this posted and watching the clip ... this thread has absolutely, nothing to do with the beliefs or belief system of Miss California, Perez Hilton or the Miss USA organisation. This had to do with that fact that in the 2 minutes or whatever it is, given to contestants, Miss California made a bloody fool of herself. I mean, someone could have easily made a fool over themselves trying to answer a question on legislative reform. She flustered and became embarrassed and altogether had a moment where her being floated away from her body. She could not perform at the time she needed to perform most. This happens everyday, to her, to all of us, to athletes and politicians. I'm not saying it's right now, but I am saying we mock them as equally in our daily lives. It doesn't make us immune to our own faults or shortcomings - at least for me. Miss California did not answer the question presented to her. End of story. Instead of taking a second to regain her bearings, she dug herself a hole by injecting thoughts and opinions not relative to the actual query, making her uncomfortable, the audience uncomfortable and the judges. She took her moment in the sun, sat on in, stomped up and down and round and round on it and set it out by the trash. That's it. That is all. This thread does not exist to morally chastise or question her or mine or your believes. It merely exists to point out that in times of extreme predicaments, when all eyes are on us, we are just as easily able to sink as to swim. Miss California, believe what you will ... just learn to listen and articulate your beliefs ... better than you did. That's it. End of story. Rock on. ![]() |

Tell it ladies! When I saw the footage on E yesterday I was just shaking my head.
She didn't answer the question, there was no articulation like Kristina pointed out and she was flustered and then dug herself in deeper, and showing her ASS just like Brookie said. LOL! Baby! ~Jeanine~
